Register for Start IoT
Being a member of Start IoT community gives you access, free of charge, for up to 10 IoT devices over a period of 5 years (2017- 2021) for testing and exploration purposes and to develop prototypes at a relatively low cost.
The Start IoT pilot network infrastructure is accessible in Norway* through the Start IoT developer site, which contains documentation on the devices, connectivity and the backend, development kits, startup guides and user forums.
In parallel to the LPWA physical pilot network, a backend system allows IoT service developers to monitor and manage things and thing types. The backend system also makes it possible to create user interfaces for end user IoT services using built in dashboards or by creating standalone web interfaces that uses the API.
Telenor Connexion Managed IoT Cloud is the enablement platform, which is built on top of AWS IoT. The platform can be used regardless of the underlying connectivity technology
LoPy devices from Pycom are currently used in the Start IoT offering.
Telenor is partnering with NTNU, SINTEF, Statens Vegvesen (Norwegian Public Roads Administration) and other leading education and research institutions and companies in Norway, and has set up collaborations with StartupLab in Oslo and Wireless Trondheim in Trondheim.
*LoRaWAN networks (20 base stations) are currently deployed in Oslo, Trondheim, Tromsø, Molde and Longyearbyen, giving good line of site visibility in downtown cities, within a range of 15-20 kilometres. Other connectivity options may soon be available.
